What Is The Best Ratio For Jello Shots?

Jello shots are notoriously pretty pricey. A pack of six is usually somewhere between $7 and $10. Plus, every time you add water to them, it changes the size and quantity of the “shot” you’re getting. To make it more efficient, Danger recommends keeping the jello at a lower water level. “What I always do is keep the jello shots around two cups [in size],” Danger explains.” This way, you can have an extra [jello shot] without needing to dilute it.” In that case, what you’re getting is a jiggly cake-flavored shot.

In other words, stick to a ratio of .5 to 1 when making jello shots. That means that to get that perfect jiggly cake effect, you’re going to have to shake up your mixture about five times.

How Much Alcohol Can You Put In Jello Shots?

While making a bunch of jello shots at home can be a pain in the ass, it’s also a lot easier. The main ingredients in jello shots are sugar, gelatin, and fruit (from a simple mix of fresh fruit to a few kinds of jellies). You can add as much booze as you’d like. Jane Danger says, “You can buy jars and bottles of premade fruit jellies to add to your mix. Mix your jello, alcohol, and fruit and chill before serving.”

How To Easily Make Jello Shots

According to Jane Danger, you start with a simple recipe for fruit jello: You can make your jello jigglers or buy them in a tub. Use 1/4 cup jello for a 16 oz. pitcher of adult juice/sparkling water.

What Vodka Is Best For Jello Shots?

The best vodka for jello shots is Absolut in my opinion. The price of this vodka is cheaper yet more quality than Smirnoff. I’m always experimenting with new jello formulations and flavoring options. My favorite is a lime flavor with a bit of ginger and sambal spice,” she told Mic. “That’s the one that everyone is always asking me for.”

Why Do Jello Shots Get You Drunk Faster?

The thing about jello shots is the sugars that are in it. Sugars mixed with alcohol will cause your tongue to not feel the liquor as much. This can lead to you drinking more without feeling like you’re getting drunk.

“To get the most out of the cocktail, it’s important to be consuming the jello shot as the ‘shot’ part of the drink rather than the ‘slush’ — the gelatin has a more intense taste and texture than the syrupy liquids in a slushy,” Danger says. She also advises using a jello shot glass or highball glass instead of standard shot glasses, as the larger sizes let the jello flavors fully emerge and linger.

While more intense, such as Licor 43, may be in the works, Danger says it’s best to start with somewhere in the vicinity of 2 parts liquor to 1 part juice or soda, with a bit of extra flavoring and toppings added in for good measure. “For example, the Queen of Hearts is Jello, grenadine, and peach schnapps with a maraschino cherry.
