  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

Method
 

  1. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour and whisk until well combined. Let the mixture bubble for 2 minutes.
  2. Add milk and whisk frequently, allow the sauce to bubble for 6 minutes until thickened.
  3. Remove from heat and season with salt and pepper
