Ingredients
Method
- In a large bowl, whisk together the gluten-free flour blend, granulated sugar, instant yeast, salt, and xanthan gum (if using).
- Mix the warm water, oil, and apple cider vinegar in a separate small bowl.
- Combine the wet ingredients in a bowl. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and mix until just combined. The dough will be sticky.
- Cover the bowl with an uncluttered kitchen towel and let the dough rest for about 30 minutes. During this time, preheat your home oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Once the dough has relaxed, divide it into 4 to 6 equal portions (depending on how large you want your bagels) and shape each portion into a ball. Use your finger to poke a hole through the center of each ball and gently stretch it into a bagel shape.
- In a large pot, bring water to a steaming boil. Add honey or maple syrup to the boiling water to give the bagels a slightly sweet flavor.
- Carefully drop the bagels, one or two at a time, into the boiling water. Boil them on each side for 1-2 minutes, then remove them with a slotted spoon and put them on the prepared baking sheet.
- If you want to add toppings, sprinkle them over the boiled bagels while they are still wet.
- Once all the bagels are boiled and topped, bake them in the oven for about 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Transfer the bagels to a standard wire rack to cool completely before slicing and enjoying.
