6 Overnight Break-ins Targeting Restaurants in Chicago

A series of business break-ins occurred in Chicago early Friday morning, resulting in damaged property and stolen cash. At least six incidents were reported across several South Side and North Side neighborhoods, raising concerns about a potential coordinated burglary ring. It's crucial for the community to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to the authorities, as this can play a significant role in preventing further incidents.

The first target was a restaurant on South Western Avenue, where the criminals struck shortly after midnight. The police were alerted by a burglary alarm and arrived to find a shattered front door and an empty cash register, indicating a swift and calculated operation.

Similar scenes unfolded at restaurants in Back of the Yards and Bridgeport within minutes of each other. Both locations reported damaged entry points and stolen money from registers.

Just minutes later, another restaurant on South Halsted Street was hit. Police arrived to find a broken front door and confirmed stolen cash from the register.

The early morning crime spree continued in Ravenswood. Fin Sushi Bar was the victim of an attempted break-in at 3:05 am. Although the owner, who wished to remain anonymous, reported no missing funds, a side window was damaged and the register was tampered with.

"This isn't the first time this has happened," the owner said. "In the past, it's just been a couple of times in 13 years, but this year it's the second time already."

The final reported incident involved a shattered storefront on North Ravenswood Avenue, where money may have been taken.

Rest assured, while no arrests have been made, the police are actively investigating the break-ins and reviewing surveillance footage from Fin Sushi Bar, which reportedly captured four suspects during the attempted break-in. Their diligent efforts are aimed at bringing the criminals to justice and ensure the safety of our community.
